Imaginative Play

Imaginative play helps children to learn about life.

We sometimes ask the children to contribute ideas within play situations.

In ‘Pat-a-Cake, Pat-a-Cake Bakers Man’ we all sit down together and pretend to bake a cake.

We ask for ingredients and ideas for decorations. The children love sharing their knowledge and creating wonderful flavours and toppings.

We are giving the children opportunities to grow in confidence to speak up in a group situation, to develop ownership of their poem and their ‘cake’ and to help them to feel important, ‘listened to’ and valued.
